St. Martin of Tours has an active school community – nearly 70% of students who don’t get the bus, use active transportation daily. This means that in the morning and afternoon, you’ll see many families using the sidewalks, crosswalks, and paths in our neighbourhood to get to their destinations

Here's what's happening at St. Martin of Tours CES

Current activities:

  • Creating Student Streets to St. Martin of Tours CES by identifying and addressing barriers in the neighbourhood – ongoing. Includes:
    • Improving King/Grays intersection with updated paint, signage, and signal timing. There will be a longer time for pedestrians to cross.
    • No Stopping from 8:00am-4:00pm on Grays Rd. in front of the school.
    • Investigating improved crossings for students at Stoney Brook Rd. / Teak St.
  • Wear Yellow Wednesdays through the month of October to celebrate International Walk to School Month

Past activities:

  • Formation of the Walk and Roll Club (a club for active transportation) – January 2023
  • Wayfinding signs were installed along Student Streets – January 2023
  • Observation of King St./Gray Rd. intersection with the City of Hamilton and members of the school community. This led to the installation of visible crossing timer – Nov 2022
  • Student survey – October 2022
  • Walk/roll Wednesdays – October 2022
