St. Kateri Tekakwitha is a Catholic Elementary School located in the Quinndale neighbourhood in Hamilton’s ward 6. According to data from the HWCDSB, there are 256 students who attend St. Kateri Tekakwitha from grades JK-8. 78% are within walking distance, 7% are bussed to school, and 15% are out of catchment; however, due to many different reasons, some students are driven to school in private vehicles. This is the case in every school across the City.

Our goal is to get 100% of students who live within 1.6km to walk or wheel to school on a daily basis. When we surveyed the community, we learned that 73% of students live within 1.6km from school, and that 47% of students usually walk or wheel to school. We would like to see this number go from 47% to 73%.
