St. Eugene CES

Welcome to St. Eugene CES! This is your home for everything related to walking/wheeling to school. Click the school on the map for more information!

For help using the map, check out the ‘map instructions’ and ‘map legend’ located below the map.

St. Eugene CES has an active community. Over 60% of students within 800m from school (walk, bike, etc.) use active transportation to get there. This means that in the morning and afternoon, you’ll see many families using the sidewalks, crosswalks, and paths in our neighbourhood to get to their destinations.

Here's what's happening at St. Eugene CES

In May 2024, St. Eugene CES students took part in the “Footprint Project”. The Footprint Project is an event to raise awareness of the different ways that we can support safe arrival and dismissal. Students participated by drawing meaningful pictures and messages about walking to school with sidewalk chalk in our Student Zone.

The St. Eugene CES parent community has participated in a survey to highlight ways that families can support safe school arrival and dismissal. This included identifying locations where children can be safely and conveniently dropped off. They said:

  • Parkdale Park – 5 min walk
  • Adair Ave S – 5 min walk
  • Craigroyston Rd. – 10 min walk

In January 2024, members of the St. Eugene Catholic Elementary School community participated in a survey to identify how students are getting to school, the routes they take, and the barriers they face along the way. Below are the results of the survey which include:

  • Footprint map: This map shows all of the routes that were submitted in the survey
  • Infographic: The infographic is a summary of responses from the community. Percentages shown indicate proportion of respondents.
