In the search bar in the top left, type in your school (e.g. Regina Mundi Catholic Elementary School) and click it in the drop-down menu. The map will zoom to your school.
Now, click on your school. When you do this, a few things will appear: Two different coloured shapes (purple and blue), and a popup indicating that this is your school. You can just click the ‘x’ in the corner of the popup to remove it. The purple shape represents ‘less than a 10 minute walk or 5 minute bike’, which means if you start inside the purple walk zone, you will arrive at school in 10 minutes or less if you are walking, and 5 minutes or less if you are biking. These times are based on a distance of 800m. The blue shape represents a ‘less than 15 minute walk or 7 minute bike’. These times are based on a distance of 1200m.. If your school is working on a project, it may appear on the map as well. You can learn about the project on your school page.
Click the zoom button in the bottom right corner. You’ll see crossing guards and pedestrian crosswalks (if applicable). If you click it again, you’ll see stoplights and sidewalks.
If you’d like, type in an address in the search bar. This could be your home address or anywhere else you would like. You will see a marker placed on the map.
How long would it take to walk from the location to school? What is the best route to take to cross at stop lights, pedestrian crossings, and with crossing guards? Are there sidewalks along the route (maybe they are only on one side of the street)?
